Our Mission:

Uniting and Empowering ALS Families in New Mexico with Local Compassionate Care and Support

Our Value:

Our local and community-based staff know and embody the culture of New Mexico. We extend our services to every county in New Mexico, concentrating on delivering tailored, community-centric, and immediate care and assistance. Our range of services encompasses equipment loans, home modifications, and financial support.

Our History:

Founded in 2000 by a small group of ALS family caregivers and advocates to support individuals with ALS. In 2001 we incorporated with The ALS Association and operated as The ALS Association New MExico Chapter (now ALS New Mexico). Since 2000 Our local and community-based staff know and embody the culture of New Mexico. We extend our services to every county in New Mexico, concentrating on delivering tailored, community-centric, and immediate care and assistance. Our range of services encompasses equipment loans, home modifications, and financial support.

In 2023, the New Mexico Chapter became an independent organization and was legally separated from the national ALS Association. We join 15 other chapters that represent nearly half of the patient community and more than half of the Certified Treatment Centers of Excellence and multidisciplinary specialty clinics for ALS in the United States.

These 15 chapters collaborate closely and maintain a robust network of information and resource sharing across the ALS community. Each of the 15 chapters, including New Mexico, is an independent organization well-positioned to continue effectively meeting the unique needs and responding to key priorities of the local communities it serves. New Mexico will continue to function as a leader in the field, fostering innovation and state-of-the-art programs.

We lead unified, and together, as a tightly-knit family, we stand shoulder to shoulder, offering solace, strength, and unwavering solidarity to all those touched by ALS in New Mexico.
